look at the awesome shit you find when you move! i wish i had realized that i owned something this fucking marvelous BEFORE i showed a bunch of anti-reagan artwork last month. it would have been awesome to have sported this at the show. oh well. haha. next time. i look like an angry chubbystein in this shot too which i of course love. haha. and its hard to see in this, but i'm also wearing my rue mclanahan aka BLANCHE DEVEREAUX pin. oh i love myself sometimes. hahahahahaha.
-there are just 3 days left to get the rest of my shit out of my old apartment and get it all cleaned up. i ripped a ton of shit out today. it was amazing. i threw out so much crap and got the rest of my cats moved to the new place (i left my 2 males behind at the old place for a few days...though no animal cruelty claims! steve and i both checked on them 2-3 times a day!)
-my shower now works. thank god.
-up to 15,276 on my ipod. i will have the next installment of the shuffalump very soon in fact.
-i just checked out the volume, a band from philly. their drummer is a friend of a friend so i gave them a listen and they're not too shabby if i do say so myself. go check them out at http://www.myspace.com/thevolumepa
-i went to Zapp! today to check out some new comics and was reminded why its not my favorite place to get comics. haha. it definately caters to the more traditional marvel/dc superhero crowd which i'm not into at all and i can't really ever find anything i like but...idk steve and i felt like going and it was the closest shop. oh well. haha. though i did get matching ultimate warrior action figures for me and my boss. hahaha. http://www.zappcomics.com/
-DJing TOMORROW NIGHT 5/28 at alley cat gallery in jersey city! message me (or look at the last 2 or 3 posts for info). i'm showing art too but since i'm in the midst of this chaos called moving i'm just gonna grab what i have handy and bring it along. haha. i'm so evil! i might re-show the ronny raygun work...at least some of it anyway. oh ronny!
-i'm having another 90s flashback...currently listening to fountains of wayne and was listening to red hot chili peppers. haha. woooowwww! hahaha. (and for those of you who don't live in north jersey, the "real" fountains of wayne...aka the holiday/seasonal store where the band got its name officially closed its doors last year. i drive by it sometimes and remember the epic xmas displays they had there every year)
-my fucking debit card isn't working. i have plenty of money in the bank and my paycheck is about to be deposited in another few hours yet i can't use it. i don't get it. i hate calling the bank. ugh.
sometimes being a douche bag is just so friggen awesome! haha. the other day when i was at the post office changing my address i very loudly said to steve "hey look, they're putting lesbians on postage stamps!" in reference to the stamps that ellen degeneres now has to support homeless animals. i don't think she's actually on any of the stamps but it was still hilarious. especially considering that the post office in my town is about the size of my closet...and was populated by several elderly patrons at the time...and the cranky, wrinkled, heavy set lady who works there and ALWAYS waits on me whenever i'm there gave me the weirdest "i don't get it" look after i walked back up to the counter. HAHAHAHAHAHA. i revel in my moron-dom. haha.
you can follow that link to read up on the stamps. for real. for serious. and without me making obnoxious comments in public about it. haha.
time to go to bed.........waking up super early for all eternity...kind of...sucks. sigh. and i realized recently....i haven't gone to work during daylight hours in almost 4 years. first overnights and now early am. damn. i keep hearing commercials on the radio at work for some shit called "shift work disorder" which affects people who work overnight or early morning hours. they'll just think of anything these days. haha. i mean...its not easy and a definate sacrifice a lot of the time but i'm so used to it i don't know any different anymore. its normal to not sleep. you just live tired and learn to deal. i mean...it does definately grind on me sometimes and don't know if i want to do it forever but it suits me for right now. we'll see how i feel after i turn 30 next year and it all goes down hill from there. hahaha. jk jk.

-got the new issue of juxtapoz delivered to the new house today. way to go mail forwarding! i was very exited to see that keith haring's art was featured. 2010 marks 20 years since he died and i really would have loved to have met him. he is such an inspiration in my life and i always love to read things about him. he was so prolific in such a short amount of time. he just never stopped. even up until the end, he was still working. i find that to be clearly just....awe inspiring.
-currently listening to- rob crow....it always goes back to him when my head gets all noisy like this.
-almost done moving. new place is all set up and the furniture is all here (except my shitty writing desk i'm getting rid of) and i just have to go through the random SHIT still left in my old place and clean it out by the end of the week. i think i can manage that without going insane. haha
-the shower is coming out in a little, teeny, cold trickle right now....hopefully to be fixed tomorrow or thurs at the latest.
-i can walk to almost everything in my town now in like 5 minutes. i'm so exited. the only thing i can't do is get a haircut since i'm not going to the random old man down the street. i'll be sticking with my barber, adrian, who i love. i won't cheat on him! who else will cut my hair just how i want it and have epic uber dork/music convos with me while he does it?
-had a major comic session the other night. it got heated but we got good shit done. got some art and dialog working that i still have to put together...and i'm scared i can't pull it all off. i need to forget that shit and just do it, but thats always easier said than done. sigh. haha.
THIS friday night, i'll be DJing and showing art at Alleycat Gallery in jersey city. 1 night only so come check me and the other fab ladies out. tons of awesome art and goodies to be had!
NEXT friday night, 6/4, as part of JC Fridays. 32 Jones presents "Taken Spaces:Black Lesbians Against White Aesthetics" an all new body of work by photographer Sherley Olopherne. this is the first all photo show i've curated and i'm excited to be presenting it. the opening will be from 6-9 on the 4th and we're going to be planning a closing for some time at the end of july. i'd also like to have an open house event or 2 but we shall see what my schedule and the artists will allow for.
and sort of coming soon....
i just got word on a group show for later in the summer that i'm hoping to do.. i was also invited to do the winner's circle show for Ringwood Manner Assoc. of the Arts at some point over the summer but not sure on the dates yet (i'm seriously the only person under the age of 50 who won anything last year. haha). if anyone has a word on any shows i can get in on let me know. i'm looking specifically for nj, ny, and philly area, but wherever really. i'd really like to get some shit going on for the warmer months so i can just make an insane amount of new work like i did the previous 2 summers...just went insane with paint and shit everywhere. haha. i mean... i want to do that regardless but its also nice to show it. i really love working in the open, free, warm air the most and have a lot pent up after the months of cold. another thing of awesomeness is that i'll be setting up my new studio at my new house soon which i'm really friggen stoked about (yes, i just said stoked!) and have plans to use the hell out of it. so yeah...just let me know, any word is appreciated.

random cell phone pic of graf in manhattan. fall 2008.
(i miss the person i was with when i took this picture. but i guess when you're a giant douche bag to someone, you can't blame them for not talking to you anymore. yep)
(this may be a possible foreshadowing for a little teeny project i'm thinking of throwing together)
-currently listening to optiganally yours one of the many, MANY, projects of mr. rob crow (of pinback). i love their record "exclusively talentmaker!" and was feeling a hankering for it today. the title of this post comes from one of the songs in fact. i'm a huge fan of pinback and pretty much anything rob crow does. i met him a few years back and have a horrible pic of me and him somewhere (which i will NOT be posting. haha) but i think it would be totally awesome to jam with him sometime. i wish! haha. and i hear pinback is going to be coming out with something new in the near future which has me super excited. i do think i will have to have a special rob crow post sometime with a song list and links to sites for the millions of projects he's in and some pinback pics from the times i've seen them....hmmmm....yes yes indeed, i think i need to do that. in the meantime go to http://www.optigan.com/content/optiganally-yours/ to read more on the project and more on the instrument that made it possible.
-got lots of furniture moved yesterday and some smaller shit done today. also threw out more crap. and bought some nice and new things for the new place cuz its nice to have well...new shit. haha. we hung out and watched DVDs (no cable yet) and had dinner there for the first time tonight. only 11 more days to be done at the old hoos hut....11 more days.....
-did i mention this before? i don't think i did, but fucking SARAH SILVERMAN got fucking CANCELLED!!!!! f that!!!!!!!!!! i'm mad. real mad. joe jackson. shit!
-since i don't want to repost it right now since i'm tired...haha...read my last post and the "coming soon" section for upcoming events and shit that i'm showing art at/DJing at. yep yep!
-the comic is coming along. layers of the story are getting added on and i started a few small art elements...while sitting in my office at work. haha. i was on a legit break though, not screwing around and taking advantage of being the boss while everyone else worked. haha. i just started messing around with random shit i had in my bag and came up with a few starting elements. not too shabby! this is also making other things blossom in my mind and i have an idea or 2 for some possible one offs...we'll see. i feel really excited and inspired so....yeah!
-alice in wonderland comes out on 6/1...since i missed it at the theater much to my chagrin, i think i will be scoring a copy.
-notable quotes of things i said to steve today "if i didn't have sex again for 30,000 years i still would never sleep with you" and "you can't train a cat to piss outside, asshole!" i think we need a reality show. for real. you know, to show what a completely platonic marriage between a tiny tyrant boy dyke and a big nerdy pigpen baffoon looks like. the world needs to see that fucking shit!
-it's been 30 years since ian curtis of joy division took his own life. damn. the joy division/new order story always makes me smile and gives me hope to go on even when i'm at my most pissed off or the saddest. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2010/may/18/ian-curtis
i'm hardly sleeping at all. not that i sleep much (5 hours a night is a lot for me anymore) to begin with but i've really been pushing it lately. too much to do. too much on my mind. but i'm oddly functioning just fine. i suppose it will catch up with me, but i'll have some time to relax once the move is over. i have a 3 day weekend coming up but i can't really rest cuz i'm really going to spend it gutting the rest of my apartment and ***hopefully*** catching up on some shit that i'm behind on. we shall see.

to everyone who wants/needs something from me right now, PLEASE BE PATIENT. i'm working on getting the things i've promised you taken care of on top of moving...and cleaning...and umm yeah working (no time off to move unfortunately) and doing volunteer work and art shit everything is a little crazy right now and making me nutty. but i'm dealing with it okay....for the most part. haha. but again...be patient cuz this is a stressful time and i just need to focus on it so i can get it done and resume the rest of my life. and for christ's sake, i work at 3:30 in the morning too so have some empathy that i don't sleep much as it is and add all this on top of it...you get the picture....
-steve doesn't have much of a sense of urgency until i yell at him but at least he gets moving. we started moving what furniture we could today and tomorrow one of our friends is going to come over with his van so he and steve can get some of the bigger shit out.
-i'm super excited to set my new studio up! you know...just as soon as it has a door on it.
-i went to pick up my friend luca the other day and rang the wrong person's bell. oops.
-i'll be DJing and showing at alley cat gallery in jersey city on 5/28 as part of the lollibomb beauty bar from 7-10pm. also featuring erica resnick, howdy sailor, and luca of lollibomb beauty. http://www.facebook.com/alleycatgallery (flier for this event to come soon)

this mullet dude knows how to get down to the hoosatron shuffalump!
and yes fiiiinalllllyyyy, here it is, the 2nd installation of the shuffalump. my ipod is up to 15,189 song and counting. i again put it to the test and put it on shuffle to see what it came up with; the list below is the result. some recent additions i've made since the last edition of the shuffalump include tunes by screeching weasel, the avdantage, red sparowes, iris, mgmt, we are wolves, three mile pilot, flying lotus, gg allin, and john frusciante. of course, any suggestions you all have on things you think i should have, by all means, send em i will never stop adding to the collection, thats for sure so any tips on good shit are always appreciated. looking back at this list it almost looks like i planned it out (especially towards the end of the list), but i swear this was a totally random mix! all of this shit is def worth checking out, all killer, no filler on this shuffalump. stay tuned for part3 yo!
SHUFFALUMP!!!!!!! PART 2
yeah yeah yeah’s- heads will roll (probably my favorite song from “it’s blitz!” such a catchy and dancy song should be a favorite! i didn't like YYY's at first but then about 2 years ago came to really enjoy them and see that they are actual some pretty damn good song writers. i found this album to be a bit of a departure, but i liked it none-the-less)
radiohead- fake plastic trees (what can i say about these critical darlings that hasn't been said already? haha. but don't get me wrong, i love radiohead and think they are surely deserving of all the praise they get because they are some really talented songwriters/musicians. this is an acoustic version of this song that i picked up somewhere along the way. its not my favorite song by them, but hearing it stripped down like this gave me a new appreciation for it)
victory at sea- the driver (moody and complicated rock…and from a trio of ladies for a change and not another gaggle of skinny indie boys in tight clothes sporting bad haircuts. haha. this is a band that i don’t listen to as much as i should...they’re really good and totally under rated. they are also a band i wish i could have seen play live before they broke up. i did get a chance to see VAS drummer, christina files, many years back when she was on tour with mary timony and was immediately impressed with her skills. definitely interested in hearing the projects the members went on to after VAS. i will try to dig some up and report back on my findings)
cub- lucky 7 (oh so cute! i honestly only have so much tolerance for twee pop THIS sugary but there is just something special about cub; their innocence and their lack of any real skill, but the fact that they went out and did it anyway. you gotta respect shit like that)
sixtoo- weird timer (a 26 second segue so what can i really say about it? haha. i do love sixtoo’s jazzy, dark beats on the whole though)
flying saucer attack- a silent tide (suuuper fuzzy shoegazey goodness here. yep yep. it gets a a bit too fuzzy for me at points but i can deal. haha)
laura veirs- july flame (from the new album by the same name, you can also score this track for free via an itunes DL card available at starbucks right now. this is typical of her work, not saying that that is a bad thing, but its not much of a departure from her earlier work. nice and varied instrumentation make up this track and like most of her songs, it kind of makes me sad…but really because it reminds me of a sad time in my life when i was listening to her a lot)
sunny day real estate- television (from “the rising tide” their last, and least EPIC album. i always loved their earliest heavier work before they broke up the first time, and didn't pay much mind to the work they did after re-uniting. about 2 or so years ago i pulled it back out after DLing the song "100 million" which is a gorgeous track, and i finally came to appreciate and really love their later work. this is more textured and mature from where they started out from by far and now that i'm older i can see that. haha. i love the line…she’s in my head…who hasn’t felt that at one time or another about someone they just can’t shake?)
tristeza- aereoaviones (a swirling and key laden track by these mysterious instrumental masters. i love how they pull of this genre without getting fucking crazy loud and epic. i do like that style, but honestly after a while it gets old and this is a breath of fresh air to me because i love complicated, instrumental music probably more than i love anything else and tristeza is definately proof that sometimes less is just more. when i finally get a new band going, thats what i want to do, all instrumental songs)
bonobo- scuba (from “one offs and remixes” a nice track with a lot more canned/electro elements than “regular” album stuff but that’s not a bad thing. there’s a lot of subtle percussive layers to this song which makes it perfect headphone listening fare. there is really honestly not much simon green, the force behind bonobo, has done that i can say i don’t really like. the man has talent and a lot of it)

but it was a good time going through my vinyl today and re-discovering goodies such as this. haha. once i'm moved in and settled, i have decided that i'm going to really get on ripping all of my vinyl (cd's too) to mp3...i'm even tossing about the idea of doing a wacky record blog....not that it hasn't been done a million times before but i mean...i have some fucking silly/stupid/weird stuff. i had a minor obsession with bad records a few years back and with spoken word too so...yeah. haha. anyway...a quick list since i've fallen majorly behind with this here bloggy, then back to some packing! fun times!
-i recently DL'd "kill the musicians" by screeching weasel which was a collection of random, live, rare, etc material they put out in 1995 after splitting up (for the first time in 1994). let me tell you, i played this record non-stop all through my 4 years of high school and its def awesome to have it on my ipod again. i used to practice my drums along with it and between this and operation ivy, thats how i got my chops up to be able to play fast. this was re-released by asian man in 2005. http://www.asianmanrecords.com/
-my friend kiva just brought over his MASSIVELY HUGE 1200 watt PA system for me to borrow. its insane! i have decided to call it the motherfucker due to its incredible ability to shake the fucking ground. hell yeah!
-i photographed my first event in a long time last week...meaning like a formal banquet (think wedding photog style just not at a wedding. haha) and am thinking maybe i want to try to get into it again on the side for some extra dolla billz. idk. its a lot of work after the fact so we'll see.
-i have a bunch of all new pieces i made for the Loop Lounge Punk show, the RONNY RAYGUN series, i just need to take some pics and get them up (the varnish i used it causing warping on the collages though which is making me mad but i'm going to try to fix them then get pics going on)
-i'm making a very concerted effort to stop drinking soda so i've been chugging lipton iced tea like its going out of style. haha.
-i love that betty white is experiencing a resurgence in popularity. go betty! i heard her SNL gig was super funny, but i didn't get to see it. and i absolutely LOVE that she was nominated for a "new, now, next" award by LOGO. hell yeah for an 88year old "next big thing" haha. i gotta log on and vote for her.
-speaking of LOGO, i blame them for my recent watching of buffy the vampire slayer. haha i keep trying to resist but i find myself not wanting to pack and flipping through the channels and its on so i find myself watching it and getting sucked into the story line. i never watched it when it was actually airing and i'm kicking myself a little over that.
-no more 2nd job for me. and now i have a new schedule at my full time job so its going to result in having 3 day weekends twice a month. its about time i get some quality of life back! i love working shift work and odd hours, otherwise i wouldn't do it, but sometimes it does grind on me. its going to be nice to kind of be able to plan a little and be able to see some friends on weekends and be able to stay out on sundays.
-daria is coming out on dvd soon...i think this week actually...the whole series too. not too bad, i'm prob going to pick it up.
- http://ilistentoeverything.com/ a decent mp3 blog. i've seen better, but its got an eclectic mix (super mainstream and then a random shoegaze song. haha)
-http://pitchfork.com/features/interviews/7785-caribou/ go there for an interview with caribou
speaking of the motherfucker, i will be whipping that shit out this coming sunday at parlay studios in jersey city when i DJ at this event for the liberty humane society. not really sure what i'm going to play...keep it more indie...more mainstream....or my usual electro-ish fare (i'm leaning in that direction). since i end up doing all different kinds of shit that i don't always get to pick what i want to do in terms of keeping it to my style i've amassed a decent amount of shit that i normally wouldn't have. and that fits right in with one of my golden rules of DJing, aka have a MASSIVE collection to be able to pull from so you can fucking doooominnnnnaaaaate in any situation (every DJ knows this, duh!). haha. this will also enable you to be adaptable when people ask you for really dumbass shit, the electric slide, or perhaps an obscure old punk rock song (all of which are things that have been asked of me). hahahahaha. but perhaps the most important being "stand there and make it look like you know what you're doing. I.E. look REALLY into it, therefore making yourself look infinately more awesome/important" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. (thats how i make it through every gig!) not that i mean to minimize DJing because it is really tough to keep a crowd engaged and into it, and i do plan on getting better at the craft, its just hard to practice when i have like...zero time to devote to getting better. i honestly do end up flying by the seat of my pants a lot of times and just making it work with my limited skills and my cobbled together equipment. haha. i haven't had any complaints yet so i consider that a good thing! once i'm moved in to the new place, i'm going to fiddle around with my digital mixer and learn how to use that better and also get a soundcard so i can use it at gigs. stay tuned suckaz, you know you want to see me become the most awesome DJ ever! hahahaha.
i'm also going to be DJing at alley cat gallery in jersey city on may 28th. check that shit!
